Care That Respects Who You Are

Oftentimes, LGBTQ people are met with bias, assumptions, and stereotypes — even in what are supposed to be safe spaces. Sometimes, they are pathologized or misunderstood. You deserve care that respects who you are. Therapy should be a place where you don’t have to explain or defend yourself. The problem is that it can be hard to find therapy that is LGBTQ+ affirming.

Deep Centered Mental Health is different from many other mental health providers. We offer LGBTQ+ affirming therapy. Our therapists meet you where you are. We help you work through cultural issues, family problems, and other unique challenges you might face.

Whether you are just now coming out, working on challenges in relationships, or managing difficult mental health issues, you’ll be met with respectful care that validates your needs and honors who you are.

Here, you’ll have a safe space where you can express yourself and be met without judgment. Your identity will never be questioned here. Our ultimate goal is to help you build greater joy into your life and provide you with respectful, affirming care that celebrates who you are.

Our LGBTQ+ therapists truly understand the systemic and cultural challenges that you face. We’ll support you every step of the way as you build skills and resilience to deal with these challenges.

Why It’s Hard to Reach Out

For LGBTQ+ people, it can be hard to trust others. That is because of previous experiences in the community and even with loved ones.

You may worry that your therapist won’t truly understand your gender identity or life experience. At Deep Centered Mental Health, you won’t have that experience. Many of our therapists identify as LGBTQ+ or have extensive experience working with the community. Here, therapy is a safe place to talk openly and be met with respect.

A Professional Approach to LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

Brenda Gomez, LPC, NCC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Being my authentic self is important to me and I want you to be yourself with me. We often don’t get the chance to be completely open and honest in our society, so I hope we can create that safe place in our sessions. I believe that you are your own expert, and sometimes even experts need to explore their own ideas to come up with solutions to all sorts of problems or issues.

I use aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy depending on my client’s needs. I often incorporate creativity, laughter, and games in session because I am a “big kid” and because it’s fun!

How Therapy Can Help

We provide therapy that is both affirming and clinically informed. Many of our therapists identify as LGBTQ+ or have extensive experience working with the community. No matter what type of therapy you choose, you’ll be provided with tools for managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. Our therapists can also provide resources for parents, teens, and caregivers.

These resources can better help you support your LGBTQ+ loved one.

Therapeutic Approaches

The care we provide is personalized to each individual patient, but will often include:

Identity-affirming therapy: Therapy that respects and validates who you are.
Coming out & transition support: Guidance through coming out, transition, and relationship changes.
Managing stress & trauma: Support for coping with minority stress, trauma, and anxiety.
Safe space for identity: A place to talk openly about sexuality and gender.
Family & caregiver resources: Help for parents, teens, and caregivers to navigate challenges.
Culturally informed care: Care that honors your cultural and social identities.

Specialized LGBTQ+ Therapy Services

Our services extend beyond individual therapy to meet the diverse needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

Gender Affirmative Surgery Evaluations

We provide supportive Gender Affirmative Surgery Evaluations for Texas adults, helping the trans community access the care they deserve.

LGBTQ+ Couples Therapy & Poly or Open Relationship Counseling

Our therapists support queer monogamous couples and those in kink, poly, or open relationships. If you’re exploring these dynamics, we offer a safe space to discuss topics like communication, intimacy, and relationship structure. For those considering adding new partners or integrating BDSM, our affirming therapists are here to help you navigate these discussions.

LGBTQ+ Only Therapy Groups

LGBTQ+ therapy groups can deepen self-acceptance, foster connection, and empower you in relating to others. These groups, led by LGBTQ+ therapists, provide a transformative experience in a safe, affirming environment. Contact us if you’re interested in joining an LGBTQ+ group, and we’ll connect you with a group leader for an intake.

Why Choose Deep Centered Mental Health

We recognize the resilience it takes to seek help in a world that does not always affirm or even recognize the truth you’re expressing. You may have experienced therapy in the past that was not the most positive experience.

We’re not here to define or change you. Our approach is focused on you — your identity, experiences, and challenges.

We provide a supportive, evidence-based environment where you can define yourself. Therapy is a collaborative process. You will get care rooted in respect because that is what you truly deserve.

Our therapists bring decades of experience as well as the presence, clinical expertise, and respect to each session that you need to be successful.  You don’t have to explain everything to us. We get it. You only need to show up.

As a 1st time therapy patient, I cannot recommend them enough. I've been given insight, book recommendations, and challenging questions to examine what I hope to work on in therapy.
