Welcome, my name is Abie, and I’m a Licensed Counselor here at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. I’m excited to connect with you and share a bit about myself and my approach. As you explore my background and the way I work, it’s crucial that you feel confident in choosing the right practitioner for your journey. I’m here to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively navigate your unique experiences.
Abie Alford, LPC
- Work best with: Children, Teens, Adults, Older Adults
- Manage Medications: Provides therapy and collaborates closely with our psychiatry team for medication management, available through internal referral if needed.
I’ve always been passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges. Becoming a counselor was a natural path for me as I wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I attended Hardin-Simmons University for both my Undergrad and Graduate degrees, obtaining a Master of Arts in both Family Psychology and Family Ministry. Throughout my years as an LPC I’ve worked with a variety of patients including teens, adults, couples and families, and addressed a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, grief, relational problems, life transitions, and past trauma.
I am trained in EMDR and also use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness to help clients heal and achieve their goals. I believe in creating a safe and empathetic space for my clients to explore their concerns. Patients have expressed that I am authentic in my approach, working alongside them in their timing. Additionally, they have been able to learn and gain better understanding of how their brain processes information and how best to utilize the skills learned through therapy to help with any future issues as well.

Personal Interests
Outside the therapy room you will usually find me spending time with my family – especially my nieces and nephew. I enjoy traveling to explore different parts of the world but also love spending time at home with my cat, Hermione, watching a fun comedy or drama. Connecting on a personal level is essential, and I look forward to getting to know
you better!
