Hi, I’m Kate, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’m excited to share a bit about myself and my approach to help you decide if we might be a good fit.
I team with patients as the experts of themselves bringing my own educational and professional experience to support transformational changes that they seek to make. I incorporate the lens of IFS modality frequently in the process. I strive to also provide psycho-education to patients about what they are working on with me in therapy.
Patients have expressed their preference for a more interactive therapist which they report me to be. Some have expressed they didn’t benefit from working with a passive therapist who sat quietly through sessions while they talked. One long term patient has told me she fondly called me “Tell it straight Kate”.
Ultimately, my goal is to help you build the self-awareness, emotional resilience, and practical tools needed to feel more grounded, more capable, and more connected in your life and in your relationships.
Master of Social Work, East Carolina University, 1996
I cooked professionally for 15 years and am well versed in much cookery including gluten free and plant based options (I mostly use to support health) and I’m always developing new recipes to try to surprise my eaters with “Wow, that’s not what I thought vegan was!” I am an avid gardener along with my 2 cats, Dewdrop and Lucille, who are great garden kitties. I love to travel and lived abroad teaching English and singing jazz in Hiroshima, Japan for 2 years. I love crafting! I make paper and things from paper including origami, pop-up cards, and I bind books.
