Compassionate Experts In Trauma Care

Trauma has a way of changing how you see yourself in the world. It can leave lasting marks that really make a significant impact on your life.

Sometimes trauma symptoms appear after a single traumatic event, like a car accident. It may be the result of years of trauma, like childhood neglect. Regardless of how it happens, it can be hard to heal without help.

Trauma can make everyday situations seem threatening. You may avoid places that remind you of the event — even though they have no current connection. It may be hard to trust others. Trauma can interfere with your relationships.

Over time, the effects of trauma can turn into symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Complex PTSD (CPTSD). CPTSD is linked to persistent trauma. The symptoms are similar to PTSD, but it features additional challenges. The symptoms are more severe.

One of the hardest parts of trauma is how it isolates you from others. PTSD and CPTSD are treatable. Therapy can help you process what happened, learn to regulate your emotions, and feel more in control of your life. You can’t erase the past. But you can move forward by loosening the hold that the past has on your life.

Why It Can Be Hard To Reach Out

One of the most difficult parts of living with trauma is how you come to believe that things are hopeless. You tell yourself that you should be able to “get over it” on your own. You feel anxious and afraid about opening up. You might have learned to keep everything inside to survive. So, talking to a therapist feels risky.

We’re here to tell you that therapy is a confidential place where you can learn to feel more grounded and in control. You don’t have to share everything at once. It’s normal to feel hesitant. Our therapists understand that and work with you so that you feel supported every step of the way.

A Professional Approach To Trauma Care

Alexi Hoefer, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I’m here to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space where we can collaboratively navigate your unique experiences. I take a very eclectic approach to my practice and like to adapt to each person. Everybody is an individual, and cookie cutter approaches just don’t always fit the bill! I like to channel each person’s strengths to help guide them through troubling times.

I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize CBT, solution-focused, trauma informed care. Coming into therapy can be hard, and I want to make sure you are getting what you need in order to heal, process, and grow!

Whether we are meeting in person or through telehealth, I strive to create an environment that allows you to be unapologetically yourself. I live by the motto: “Everything is figureoutable.”

How Therapy Can Help

There isn’t a single approach that heals PTSD or CPTSD. Everyone’s experience with trauma is different, so we tailor therapy to your individual needs.

Healing from trauma is typically not a quick process. It happens gradually and safely. A slower step-by-step healing allows you to feel safe to explore how the trauma has affected your life without feeling overwhelmed.

The goal of therapy isn’t to erase what happened or to make you forget. It’s to help you reclaim your power and work to change the narrative. It’s really about empowerment.  Instead of being controlled by fear, you’ll learn skills to manage it so you can keep moving forward.

Therapy can empower you to create new meaning in your life. It can help you rediscover your strengths. You’ll reconnect with relationships and people that once felt overshadowed by the trauma.

Therapeutic Approaches

Our therapists understand that trauma affects your thoughts, emotions, and body. They take a whole-body approach to healing and are trained in many different holistic approaches, including:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): To help your brain reprocess traumatic memories.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): To shift beliefs shaped by trauma, such as guilt or shame.
Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT): To face triggers and build resilience.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): To explore and heal different “parts” of yourself.
Psychiatric Care: Medication management when it is the right fit.

Journeys to Healing

Real experiences shared by patients who turned therapy into transformation.

I can't say enough about Rachel. She is an awesome counselor and I'm so glad that Alex, my 10-year-old has sessions with her. He looks forward to his sessions, especially the in-person ones.

I have received great care at Deep Centered. The staff is very helpful and the caregivers have wonderful resources. I would definitely recommend Deep Centered to anyone wanting to work toward having a happy, more healthy life.

I was a bit skeptical at first about the effectiveness of therapy as treatment, but now I can't imagine life without it. My therapist is the best ever and offers excellent advice.

Understanding the Process

How do I know if I need trauma therapy?

If you’re feeling stuck in the past, easily triggered, numb, or anxious, you may benefit from trauma therapy with Deep Centered Mental Health.

What if I don’t remember everything about my trauma?

That’s okay. Many people come to Deep Centered without full memories of their trauma. We’ll work at your pace and focus on how you’re feeling now.

What’s the difference between PTSD and CPTSD?

PTSD typically follows a single traumatic event, while CPTSD can stem from repeated trauma over time. Our therapists at Deep Centered are trained to treat both.

Yes. We offer secure virtual sessions across Texas so you can get support from the comfort of home.

How long does trauma therapy take?
