Hi, I’m Maya, Licensed Professional Counselor. I’m excited to connect with you and share a bit about myself and my approach. As you explore my background and the way I work, it’s crucial that you feel confident in choosing the right practitioner for your journey. I’m here to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively navigate your unique experiences.
Maya Ontiveros, LPC
- Work best with: Preteen, Teen, Adult, First Responders, LGBTQ+ Community
- Appointments: Telehealth only
- Manage Medications: Provides therapy and collaborates closely with our psychiatry team for medication management, available through internal referral if needed.
My work centers on walking alongside people as they face some of life’s most personal and vulnerable moments. I specialize in working with individuals navigating eating disorders, identity exploration, and complex trauma. Over the years, I’ve supported LGBTQIA+ clients, folks in the process of transitioning, people in polyamorous partnerships, and neurodivergent individuals seeking clarity, connection, and stability in their daily lives. I’ve also had the privilege of working with veterans, law enforcement, and first responders as they process the lasting effects of trauma.
My style is a mix of compassion and gentle challenge. I believe in creating a space that feels both validating and motivating, where you feel seen and also encouraged to stretch into growth. I use evidence-based approaches to help you reconnect with yourself, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful change that lasts. I am committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients can explore their concerns with safety and empathy.
My patients would say they appreciate my humor and authenticity during our sessions. They leave their sessions with new coping skills, useful in even the most difficult situations. My patients also gain a more flexible and open perspective on life.

Personal Interests
When I step out of the therapy room, you’ll discover my passion for the creative arts. Whether it’s diving into fiction novels, going to Broadway shows, or attending live music concerts, these pursuits not only bring me joy but also enrich my understanding of the world. I am also a proud cat mom!
