Where To Start With Mental Health Care In Houston

Finding mental health care isn’t always as simple as finding a therapist. Depending on what you’re dealing with, care may involve therapy, psychiatric medication or treatments such as TMS and SPRAVATO® (esketamine).

Deep Centered Mental Health offers all of these services at our Houston location in the Greenway Plaza area.

Mental Health Services At Our Houston Office

Our Houston team works with children, teens and adults across a wide range of mental health needs. Therapy and psychiatry are available in person and by telehealth, while TMS and SPRAVATO are provided in person at our Houston office.

Having these services together can also make it easier when treatment needs change. A patient already seeing one of our therapists, for example, can add psychiatric care without having to find another practice. For patients who need additional treatment options, TMS and SPRAVATO are available within Deep Centered as well.

Starting With Therapy

There doesn’t have to be a single defining reason to start therapy. Anxiety, depression and trauma bring many people to a therapist, but so do grief, relationship difficulties, work stress and major changes in life. Sometimes you simply recognize that something isn’t working and want help understanding what to do differently.

Deep Centered Mental Health’s Houston therapists work across a wide range of concerns and specialties. Our clinicians bring different backgrounds and therapeutic approaches to their work, giving patients the opportunity to find someone whose experience fits what they’re looking for.

Therapy can be the primary form of mental health care or part of a treatment plan that also includes psychiatric care.

When Psychiatry Is Part Of The Picture

Psychiatry and medication management can help when symptoms are interfering with everyday life or you want to understand whether medication should be part of your treatment.

An initial psychiatric evaluation looks at what you’re experiencing along with your medical history, previous treatment and medications you’ve taken before. From there, you and your provider can discuss treatment options and, when appropriate, medication.

Deep Centered Mental Health provides psychiatric care for children, teens and adults in Houston. Patients who also see one of our therapists can receive both types of care within the same practice.

What If Depression Treatment Isn’t Working?

Antidepressants and therapy help many people with depression, but significant symptoms can remain even after treatment. At that point, the conversation doesn’t have to be limited to trying another antidepressant.

Deep Centered Mental Health offers TMS and SPRAVATO in Houston. Both give patients and our providers additional ways to approach depression, though they work very differently.

TMS

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive, non-medication treatment that uses magnetic stimulation to target areas of the brain involved in conditions including depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

For people who haven’t gotten enough benefit from medication, TMS is such a powerful treatment because it doesn’t simply introduce another drug. It takes a fundamentally different approach to treating depression, which can be especially meaningful when previous treatments haven’t been successful.

Deep Centered Mental Health uses BrainsWay Deep TMS at our Houston clinic for depression and OCD.

SPRAVATO® (esketamine)

SPRAVATO® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved treatment for certain adults with depression that works differently from traditional antidepressant medications.

SPRAVATO works through a different pathway in the brain than traditional antidepressants, which is part of what makes it an important option for treatment-resistant depression. For people who have gone through multiple antidepressant trials and are still struggling, it provides a treatment path beyond simply trying another traditional antidepressant.

SPRAVATO is administered as a nasal spray under medical supervision at our certified Houston clinic.

Getting Started

You don’t need to choose a treatment before contacting us.

Therapy can be a natural starting point when you want support with anxiety, relationships, trauma, stress or something difficult happening in your life. Psychiatric care is the better fit when you want to know whether medication would help or you need someone to manage medication you’re already taking.

If you’ve already been receiving treatment for depression and are still struggling, let us know what you’ve tried. We can help you understand whether another option, including TMS or SPRAVATO, should be part of the conversation.

Therapy and psychiatry are also available by telehealth throughout Texas, so you can access care from our Houston team even if the office isn’t convenient.
