My name is Carly and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor going on 15 years. My practice includes working with tweens, teens, and adults across the life span. I treat those who have challenges with adjustment and life transitions, relationship issues, mood disorders, trauma, self esteem issues, recovery needs, and grief resolution. After becoming a mother, I developed a passion working with women’s issues and parenting. Serving a diverse clientele gives me to opportunity to build a variety of connections from patient to patient.

My counseling foundation comes from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. I feel this type of therapy allows for fluidity with other therapeutic modalities….YES being eclectic! I also like to integrate holistic techniques to help attune the brain and body. When these two are in sync a lot of growth and change can happen!

Patients often tell me that what stands out most is our genuine connection – the way therapy feels like a real conversation rather than a clinical script. They value my use of humor, intuition, and creativity to make complex emotions feel manageable and meaningful. Many have said that the combination of authenticity and clinical flexibility allows them to engage more deeply in their own healing.

I believe everyone brings uniqueness to their sessions and I emphasize this to help my patients become the experts of their unique self. I am very creative in my work, and with creativity comes humor. So come prepared to laugh at times when things are going well… or not so well. I look forward to helping and collaborating towards your therapeutic needs!

Credentials

Education

I am a native Texan born and raised in West Texas, the panhandle part of the state. After high school I decided to uproot and attended Blinn College in Bryan, Texas to obtain my basics towards college credits. After this I landed in North Texas where I attended the University of North Texas (UNT) and got my Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family studies, and Master’s of Education in Counseling. It was here where I found out about UNT’s counseling program and started writing my story of counseling adventures. My LPC Internship consisted of working at an inpatient hospital on the child and adolescent unit, while also doing an internship at Denton County Children’s Advocacy Center. I ended up moving to Austin during the course of my internship where I got a job working in foster care. Following full licensure I worked with adults in an Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), private practice, and geriatrics. After meeting my husband whose career in academia landed me back to Denton, I have worked with teens and young adults with dual diagnosis and addiction issues, back into foster care as a Treatment Director, and private practice.

Personal Interests

I’m a therapist, a mom, a former kickboxing instructor, and a music lover who can still moonwalk on a good day. Cooking is my creative outlet, and I believe a good playlist (and a good meal) can make just about anything better.
