These treatments give people with depression additional options when medication or therapy hasn’t provided enough improvement. TMS is also FDA-cleared for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
TMS In Houston
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive, non-medication treatment that uses magnetic stimulation to activate targeted areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.
TMS has produced meaningful response and remission rates in people with depression who haven’t gotten enough benefit from antidepressant medication. It also avoids many of the systemic side effects associated with medications, and treatment generally doesn’t interfere with work or other normal daily activities.
Our Houston clinic uses BrainsWay Deep TMS for depression and OCD. Deep TMS is FDA-cleared for both conditions.
SPRAVATO in Houston
SPRAVATO® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved prescription nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression. It acts on the brain’s glutamate system, giving clinicians another way to treat depression after conventional antidepressants haven’t produced enough improvement.
Clinical research has shown meaningful improvement with SPRAVATO in people with treatment-resistant depression, including patients who have already gone through multiple antidepressant trials. Research has also shown that improvement in depressive symptoms can begin early in treatment.
SPRAVATO is available under medical supervision at our Houston clinic.
Therapy And Psychiatry In Houston
TMS and SPRAVATO join the therapy and psychiatry and medication management services already available through Deep Centered Mental Health in Houston.
This allows care to stay connected when more than one service is involved. A patient already working with one of our therapists, for example, can add psychiatric care or TMS within Deep Centered rather than switching practices. Therapy and psychiatry are also available by telehealth throughout Texas.
