Hey there, I’m Maya, Doctoral Intern. I’m excited to share a bit about myself and my approach to help you decide if we might be a good fit.
Maya Parija, MA
Supervised by Chrissy Ammons, PhD
- Work best with: LGBTQ+, Asian / Southasians, Immigrants
- Manage Medications: Provides therapy and collaborates closely with our psychiatry team for medication management, available through internal referral if needed.
I am grounded in long term, relational depth work and incorporate other tools and frameworks such as EMDR, somatic therapy, and mindfulness techniques as needed with my patients. My particular focus has been complex trauma, though I am also very interested in couples therapy, neurodivergence, and identity issues. I tailor my approach to my patients’ individual goals and needs, and collaborate with them throughout the treatment process.
My patients have said they have felt deeply accepted, met with curiosity and skill, and come away with real growth in their emotional and relational capacities. They have seen me as a compassionate presence with the confidence and strength to challenge them as needed, and incorporate feedback when warranted.
The work I have done thus far on myself allows me to be fully present to my patients and provide a compassionate attachment experience for them regardless of the difficulties they are encountering in their lives. I also draw from a range of somatic and mindfulness skills that broaden my approach beyond relational work.
