I focus on establishing trust and creating an environment where patients feel comfortable being their authentic selves, with all of their interconnected parts. During the intake session, patients can expect me to show up with curiosity and warmth. I like to pace the intake process according to our allotted time, so that patients have the time and space to share the important aspects of what brings them to therapy.
I have had patients tell me they appreciated my calm demeanor and that I saw and treated them as individuals, not just diagnoses. Patients have shared that they gained a deeper understanding of what motivates their actions and an increased ability to recognize destructive thought patterns. I believe my patients would say that I am genuine, caring, and warm. I am not afraid to admit mistakes or when I don’t know something. I believe in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship, and, while that looks different with every patient, the foundation is built on trust and openness.
