Welcome, my name is Abie, and I’m a Licensed Counselor here at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. I’m excited to connect with you and share a bit about myself and my approach. As you explore my background and the way I work, it’s crucial that you feel confident in choosing the right practitioner for your journey. I’m here to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively navigate your unique experiences.
Abie Alford, LPC
- Work best with: Veterans, First Responders, Domestic Violence: History, Single Mother
- Manage Medications: Provides therapy and collaborates closely with our psychiatry team for medication management, available through internal referral if needed.
I’ve always been passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges. Becoming a counselor was a natural path for me as I wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I attended Hardin-Simmons University for both my Undergrad and Graduate degrees, obtaining a Master of Arts in both Family Psychology and Family Ministry. Throughout my years as an LPC I’ve worked with a variety of clients including teens, adults, couples and families, and addressed a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, grief, relational problems, life transitions, and past trauma. I am trained in EMDR and also use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness to help clients heal and achieve their goals. I believe in creating a safe and empathetic space for my clients to explore their concerns.
