My therapy style is person-centered and grounded in authenticity, allowing clients to feel genuinely seen and understood. I naturally use humor to build rapport and create a comfortable space where difficult topics feel safer to explore. I also incorporate clear, accessible psychoeducation to help clients make connections, feel empowered, and better understand their own experiences.

Some challenges my clients have presented with include experiencing dissociation during sessions, which requires grounding, patience, and trauma-informed pacing. I’ve also supported clients who initially felt hesitant working with a male therapist, and I address this with openness, respect, and reassurance so they feel safe and in control of the therapeutic process. Overall, I meet these concerns with empathy, transparency, and collaborative communication.

During intake, clients can expect a calm, non-pressure environment where they are free to share at their own pace. I offer a listening ear, ask gentle guiding questions, and focus on understanding their story, strengths, and goals. My priority is helping clients feel safe, respected, and supported from the very first session.

In a therapy session, I start with a person-centered approach, creating a safe, empathetic space where the patient feels heard and empowered. I use Motivational Interviewing to explore their readiness for change, highlight their strengths, and address any ambivalence. Past patients have gained some insight and feel comfortable disclosing things they have never expressed before.
