Through a play-based and trauma-informed approach, I meet patients where they are emotionally and developmentally, while fostering trust, autonomy, and connection throughout the counseling process. During the intake session, patients can expect a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment focused on getting to know them and beginning to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. I gather information about their presenting concerns, background, strengths, relationships, and goals for counseling while also allowing space for questions and comfort-building at the patient’s pace. I aim to create a safe and nonjudgmental experience where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered from the very beginning of the counseling process.
At the end of treatment, patients often share that they have gained deeper insight into themselves and a better understanding of their emotions and experiences. Many report learning how to process trauma in healthier ways, manage emotions more effectively, and use grounding and coping skills in daily life. They also describe improvements in their relationships, increased self-esteem, and a stronger sense of self-love and confidence in navigating life’s challenges.
Patients often describe me as someone who genuinely cares and takes the time to truly know them as a whole person, not just their presenting concerns. They value my curiosity about their perspectives, my consistent empathy, and the way I listen deeply without judgment. Many also note that I prioritize building a strong, authentic connection, which helps them feel safe, understood, and supported throughout the therapeutic process.
