Hey there, I’m Maya, Doctoral Intern. I’m excited to share a bit about myself and my approach to help you decide if we might be a good fit.
Maya Parija, MA
Supervised by Chrissy Ammons, PhD
- Work best with: LGBTQ+, Asian / Southasians, Immigrants
- Manage Medications: Provides therapy and collaborates closely with our psychiatry team for medication management, available through internal referral if needed.
I am grounded in long term, relational depth work and incorporate other tools and frameworks such as parts work, somatic therapy, and mindfulness techniques. A large part of my training has been focused on complex trauma, and I have experience with working with neurodivergence and identity development issues as well. As a couple and individual therapist, I bring my lived experience and my clinical judgment l to be present to your needs as a whole person. I tailor my approach to my patients’ individual process and needs, and collaborate with them throughout the treatment process.
My patients have said they have felt accepted, met with curiosity and skill, and come away with real growth in their emotional and relational capacities. They have seen me as a compassionate presence with the confidence and strength to challenge them as needed, and incorporate feedback when warranted.
I see my role as accompanying my patients in their journey rather than directing where they go, and to bring a compassionate attachment experience as they explore the obstacles and gifts along their path.
